Random Thought #919: The religious right would do well to remember that the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights are not Yahweh's scriptures. They are merely conveniences with which our God has blessed our nation for a season, gifts that have allowed the inhabitants of this country to live in relative security and freedom, giving us an unusually open atmosphere in which to choose our own eternal destinies. But they are not in and of themselves that destiny: they can be just as "useful" fostering evil as promoting good. We need to pay heed instead to God's word.
