Ancient skeletons found in a Himalayan lake not only suggest that the remains belonged to people killed in a single event, but DNA analysis also reveals that they were a diverse group of people that included not only South Asian people, but also people from Greece and Crete. The manner of death in which these people died appear to give some credence to elements of a local legend about large iron balls falling from the sky that killed the people in the vicinity because they had supposedly angered a deity.

Scientists believe that these stones may have been large hail stones by which these people were killed based upon the location of the skeletal fractures examined which were found on skulls, neck vertebrate, and shoulder bones, only hail stones are made of ice, not iron. It is possible that these people may have been killed by a hail of meteorites, since meteorites are known to be possess metal substances? The Greek empire at its height was every bit as vast as the Persian Empire, perhaps even larger; the Greek and Cretan remains suggesting that the influence of the Grecian empire expanded even into India and Himalayan regions. It is possible that the lake may have been used as a burial place for the people killed by the terrible disaster.

It is believed that the people who were killed were part of a royal entourage on a pilgrimage to a shrine. What remains unanswered is what were Greek and Cretans doing among them. The only possible explanation is that they may have been diplomats accompanying the entourage or they might have been slaves or prisoners of war. Some scientists believe that at least 14 of the Greek remain sets also died of a single event, but much later than the rest, but due to the location in which they were all found, this does not seem likely. https://www.ancient-origins.ne....t/unexplained-phenom
