The 10 Commandments
I’ve always looked at the 10 Commandments as:
-God’s standards, to live up to, to gain His acceptance.
-God’s standards, that I cannot live up to, to gain His acceptance.
What if the phrase “Thou Shalt Not” was changed to “Thou Shalt”:
1-Pursue many other things in order to find the fulfillment that’s in Me.
2-Worship these thing, bow down to them, and dishonor Me.
3-Vainly attach My Name to all kinds of your evil desires.
4-Forget to remember Me, every day.
5-Dishonor your mother and father, just like you dishonor Me.
6-Murder others in thought and deed.
7-Commit adultery and dishonor your mate, yourself, and Me.
8-Steal in many ways, in order to please yourself.
9-Lie in many ways in order to protect and please yourself.
10-Never be satisfied with what you have, and always want what others have.
Changing the Prohibitive to the Affirmative gives us a pretty accurate description of our human nature and human spirit, and therefore, the need for a New Spirit in order to temper the desires of our human nature.
Who will free me from this body of sin and death? Praise be to God, it's Jesus Christ!
