Good morning and Happy first day of December, Warriors. Those who are followers of Jesus and have faith in Him for their salvation must also believe in the Word of God, as Jesus is the living Word of God (John 1:1-3) that walked this earth and gave up himself in obedience to the Father so that we might be redeemed/saved through faith in Him.
In order to correctly discern/interpret the Word of God, we must rightly divide it. Rightly dividing is not performed by extrapolating verses from the Word by themselves as stand-alone truths. We must take into consideration the context of all verses before and after it – often time the entire chapter. We must also consider historical record. We must take note of whether a verse speaks to one specific situation or whether it can be applied verbatim to each of our lives. Not EVERY VERSE can be interpreted to apply us as an individual without considering the entire recording of the Biblical account etc.
We have become very lax in what we believe, why we believe it, and how God’s Word applies to us. Many times, what we believe came by way of ERROR. The only way to correct error is to compare it with the Word of God and to BE WILLING TO LAY ASIDE ALL ERROR, REPLACING IT WITH THE TRUTH CONTAINED IN GOD’S WORD. We should NEVER hold onto any teaching that is in direct opposition to the Word of God, regardless of “who” taught us differently. THE TRUTH OF GOD IS FOUND ONLY IN THE WORD OF GOD. PERIOD.
The Enemy has been working for nearly 2,000 to corrupt the teaching of the Word and it continues today. The advantage the Enemy has over us is that we have been, in several cases, so far removed from the truth, that we “erroneously think” that what we “think” IS THE TRUTH.
To discern the TRUTH is not to choose what “sounds the best.” That’s what the Enemy wants us to do. Or to choose TRUTH because it comes from our “favorite human teacher/preacher.” Here I go – buckle in! GROW UP! We are not children who depend on others to do everything for them. And, contrary to what many believe, GOD DOES NOT DO IT ALL. We have our part and, IF WE DO OUR PART (learning and obeying the TRUTH), WE WILL REAP THE TRUTH AND THE BLESSINGS THAT FOLLOW OBEDIENCE TO THE TRUTH.
