A good guy with a gun is the best antidote to a bad guy with a gun — especially when that good guy is a state trooper. Now, the district attorney responsible for handling the case has made it clear the trooper’s use of deadly force was justified, considering that he had just been shot with a round stopped by his ballistic vest. According to WLOS-TV, the shooting happened along Interstate 26 in Asheville, North Carolina, on July 3. Trooper Jeffrey Dunlap had stopped to assist what appeared to be a stranded motorist. The motorist — later identified as Wesley Taylor, 57 — then brandished a gun and shot Dunlap in the chest. Dunlap was able to return fire, killing Taylor.

Five years ago, almost to the day, Greta Thunberg made an apocalyptic claim about the fate of the world, and now we know whether or not it has come true. On June 21, 2018, the then-15-year-old Swedish climate activist sent out an alarming tweet that seemed to imply that due to climate change caused by fossil fuels, we only had five years left before the end of the world. “A top scientist is warning that climate change will wipe out all of humanity unless we stop using fossil fuels over the next five years,” the post read.

It seems like government gets more intrusive into our lives and invades our privacy more every year, and now the Transportation Security Administration is taking things further by setting up facial recognition technology for passengers trying to board planes in many of the nation’s airports. The TSA says the trial program is voluntary and passengers can refuse to have their photos taken. However, Fox News notes there are no signs or notices telling passengers that they may refuse to participate, so most comply thinking they have to. It also seems likely that the option not to participate will be scrapped if the system goes national.
