The left—it's a phrase we hear all over the place these days. It's used to describe a particular group of people that seek to differentiate and disassociate themselves from anything that remotely resembles what is commonly known as the conservative or religious right or that espouses genuine Judeo-Christian beliefs. The phrase has been adopted by all things liberal, progressive, and socialist—that is, the current US Democratic Party. But why, of all the titles they could have picked, would they elect to call themselves "the left"?. . . .
