Do you Raise and Praise?
It saddens me that some churches ask that you don't raise your hands to the Lord in worship. They say that it may offend someone or make some folks uncomfortable! It's against some church association rules?!?
Well I'm part of the church and I don't see anywhere in "The Church" bylaws (Bible) that tells us not to raise our hands in worship. In fact the Word of God tells us to do just that. There is scripture that shows the power of raising our hands to God.
Why would anyone, especially a Bible teaching pastor, tell his congregation to not follow God's instructions because it might make some folks uncomfortable?
What an offense that is to God!! How uncomfortable and saddened He must feel!!
We should always put God's word before anyone's comfort zone!! Let's be like Aaron and Hur and support all who hold their hands high to the Lord!!!
Then Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread out his hands toward heaven; and he said: “Lord God of Israel, there is no God in heaven above or on earth below like You, who keep Your covenant and mercy with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts.
1 Kings 8:22-23
Let us search out and examine our ways, And turn back to the Lord; Let us lift our hearts and hands to God in heaven.
Lamentations 3:40-41
I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;
1 Timothy 2:8
Because Your loving kindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You. Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.
Psalm 63:3-4
And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses’ hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
Exodus 17:11-12
