Senator Tillis,

I write to you as an extremely concerned citizen. I served in the United States Army from 2001 to 2006 and consider myself a patriot. However, at the age of 39, the 2020 election was the first time I decided to exercise my right as a free American to vote.

I've never felt anytime before, it was worth my time to vote because politicians could care less of my view point as a free American. I always considered myself in the middle, trying to view points from both sides to ensure we're heading in a good direction without the inclusion of others and leaving them behind.

This election was different. I used to be anti-Trump, just listening to the media I was fed to come to the conclusion I did, because I had no time in my life to fact check or look at the bigger picture. But one day I asked myself, "Why are they attacking Trump so harshly?" Never has an American President ever been so condemned or attacked, none of this makes sense. To that, I began my own investigation and uncover the untruths and lies I was fed all out of convenience because I didn't have the time to check the facts.

He's rough, he's direct....but so am I, and I've never felt there's a President who needs more support than our current President, Donald J. Trump. We're heading down a dark path. As President Trump supported you in his message to North Carolinians on his campaign trail, I urge you to support our President when the time comes to contest the electoral votes.

My first experience as a voter, was lackluster. Thirty-nine years and still I had not voted. But, my first time voting, I had everything ready. My identification, my voter registration, and outside of asking for my name and where I lived, no one asked me to verify who I was outside of what I knew. I could of voted as my neighbor who were Democrats whose names and addresses I knew. But morally I couldn't do such a thing because I would be stealing away their right to be heard. This is the problem we face. We belong to a side that guides ourselves through a moral compass and we are up against a side who does not. I voted for you, I voted for Trump, and I urge you to be the Senator, if not many, who joins the contestation of the Electoral College Votes. We were treated unfairly as supporters of Trump and you. Changes to need to be made to ensure we stay the course of our Republic. If Biden truly won, I would not be happy, but accept the results as it is the will of the people. But, the will of the people has not been served or investigated and we must remain a free Republic where the people decide, not big tech, not foreign entities. I fear our future if we let this go by uncontested, but I stand prepared as a veteran and free American to defend our country against all enemies, foreign and domestic. You are the front line, be the difference.

God bless,
Jason Johnson
