Life is all about sacrifice. It's the day after Christmas, also known as "Boxing Day" back in England and Canada. Traditionally it's a day to give to others. Learning to deny oneself is one of the greatest lessons that children can be taught. A parent sacrifices for their child. In John 12:24 we read, "unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain."
Years ago, my wife and I desired to find a "working retirement" believing that serving others and honoring God would to be our goal. We sacrificed everything we had to build a replica of George Washington's home here in his namesake state in a setting that was similar to his beloved Mount Vernon. It was to be a B&B inn where people could come and stay. It was "Dedicated to the Glory of God and to the Faith of George Washington" as noted by a bronze plaque placed above the entrance. We also developed a working farm that incorporated ways to let others enjoy the panoramic views and the beauty of "America's Provence." It is now known as George Washington Inn & Estate and has been recognized as the finest B&B inn on the Olympic Peninsula and home of the Northwest Colonial Festival.
Recently, I stepped in to pick up the responsibility of keeping a successful social media platform alive that was fulfilling an important role of educating people on the legacy of our Founding Father, George Washington. Now I am asking for 1,000 patriots to donate $100 each to commission a bronze relief of Arnold Friberg's "The Prayer at Valley Forge" that will be hung on the side of the brick "Texas Gate" gatehouse that's currently under construction here at "Mount Vernon West."
