Gloom and Doom pt.1:
Just before the 5th trumpet is blown, we get a warning, “Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpets of the three angels who are about to sound.” The first 4 trumpets have resulted in one third of the vegetation, seas, and fresh water supply being completely annihilated. Not to mention one third of the sun, moon, and stars being darkened.
Cause: “Then the fifth angel sounded.” Effect: “And I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. To him was given the key to the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke rose from the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit.” We have seen similarities of this after massive volcanic eruptions but they were isolated to certain areas of the world. I have a feeling that this will be worldwide when this takes place, and here is why.
“Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.” Who has the authority to tell a locust that they can’t harm any green vegetation on the earth? Notice that the “inhabitants” at this time are those who have received the seal of God and those who have not. The sealed being the 144,000 Jews.
“And they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like that of a scorpion when it strikes a man. In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die, and death will flee from them.” This is the same description given when speaking of hell where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. This is literally hell on earth for those who are not sealed by God.
“They had hair like women’s hair, and their teeth were like lions’ teeth. and they had breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses running into battle. They had tails like scorpions, and there were stings in their tails. Their power was to hurt men for five months.” People have related these to military helicopters. I am a veteran who has been around military helicopters and these are not the same. All of the helicopters that I have seen are bald.
“And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name Apollyon. One woe is past. Behold, still two more woes are coming after these things.” These names both mean, “The Destroyer.” These trumpets are described as “judgements.” These locusts are demonic and have been locked in this abyss for thousands of years. Genesis 6:1-2, 1 Peter 3:18-20, 2 Peter 2:4-7, Jude 1:6 all speak of these fallen demons. God sends an angel with a key to release what He locked away.
