Items to stock up on for your food pantries: canned veggies, canned soups, beans, rice, canned meat, canned broths, bottled water, oatmeal, jams/jellies, and so forth.
Set a household hall closet aside and stock it up with hygiene items; like some extra bath towels, extra wash clothes, bath soaps, shampoo, toothbrushes/tooth paste, hand soap refill bottles, some extra toilet paper, feminine hygiene supplies, q-tips, first aid items, and so forth.
Buy the items as you see them on sale, and if you do not have some of those items stocked up... start stocking up a few extras each time you go shopping.
Also remember to rotate your pantries food items and anything with an "expiration" date on it, keep rotating your items as you add to your pantries.
