Are You Part Of God’s Army? - Part I

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; II Corinthians 10:3-5

In this post, we will start a message titled “Are You Part Of God’s Army?”

1. We Must Know Our Enemy
We are in a war. The Christians are in God’s army fighting against the devil and his army. But sadly many who profess Christianity have no idea that we are in a battle or know who we are fighting against. The apostle Paul talked about this very thing in II Corinthians 2:11 which says “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.” Also, in Ephesians 6:12 it says “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” The apostle Paul did not want us to be ignorant of satan’s devices and the spiritual battle that we are in today.

a) Satan and his many names
The Bible shows us many names of satan and we will share some of them with you in this post.

Lucifer. Isaiah 14:12-14 says “12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.”

Devil. I Peter 5:8 says “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”

Serpent. Revelation 12:9 says “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”

Prince of the power of the air. Ephesians 2:2 says “Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:”

Great Red Dragon. Revelation 12:3-4 says “3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. 4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.”
