It's a new year and a new session in the Michigan Legislature – but something extremely troubling is happening in Lansing right now.
Last month, the Democrats collapsed spectacularly after their gambit to ram hundreds of far-left bills through the legislature without Republican support failed.
But although they did far less damage than they intended, there was one last overnight session in the Michigan Senate when nearly a hundred bills to send to the governor's desk.
These included everything from bills to force taxpayers to pay more for government workers' health plans, to bills to allow for an "X" sex designation on birth certificates.
There were anti-gun bills, anti-charter school bills, bills to create new corporate welfare schemes, bills to give driver licenses to parolees before release.
There was a bill to weaken election integrity, and a special interest deal for a data center.
Over one hundred bills Democrats passed with little to no Republican support in the last days of the session before Christmas.
But then, incredibly, Democrats failed to send these bills to Gretchen Whitmer's desk – and so they expired.
They already passed them in both chambers. They just screwed up.
And yet, it appears the Democrats have somehow illegally attempted to transmit them to the Governor for her signature in the new year, despite the fact that they are no longer in office and cannot do so.
