The 2020 Golden Globes celebrated the successes of actors, directors and other important Hollywood personalities that contributed to some of the best movies and television shows of 2019. Celebrities turned out in their best fashion for the event, showing off their style in interesting and innovative ways. Here are some of the top styles from the 2020 Golden Globes.
Billy Porter
Billy Porter has a history of making strong, ambitious fashion choices at awards shows, galas and other major events, and he did not disappoint at the 2020 Golden Globes. While he did not wear a gown, as he has at some events, he showed off an all-white suit with a massive white feather train. His train was so large that he had an assistant help him carry it all night. Porter also showed off some jewelry from Tiffany's and a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes. No word on whether he wore patterned socks under that outfit, or if they were completely white as well.
Zoey Deutch
Actress Zoey Deutch rocked a bold look that appeared to be a dress at first, but was quickly revealed to be even more versatile and functional. Deutch wore an over-sized jumpsuit that gave her the appearance of being draped in a gown, but split off into functional, effective pant legs when she moved. The bold yellow color of her jumpsuit also helped distinguish her from other attendees and made her stand out even more. The big accent to her outfit, however, was the set of jewels she boasted. With more than 100 carats of diamonds and sapphires on display, she demonstrated the power of a good piece of jewelry to bring an entire outfit together.
Cynthia Erivo
Cynthia Erivo was recognized for her portrayal of Harriet Tubman at the 2020 Golden Globes, and her outfit lived up to the occasion. Erivo's black tuxedo dress sparkled with pearl embroidery, not to mention additional sequins and black crystals. The actress effortlessly embodied elegance with her classy off-the-shoulder look and the necklace she chose to pair with it. That necklace, incidentally, cost $3 million alone.
Andrew Scott
Like Billy Porter, Andrew Scott eschewed the traditional male dress code of dark colors and showed up in a cream-colored suit. He paired the outfit with a gold bow tie and showed off his lighter side as a result. Known for playing serious, sometime dangerously villainous, characters, Scott appeared playful at the 2020 Golden Globes instead, showing that you can't always judge what's on the outside.
Kerry Washington
Actress Kerry Washington opted for a bold, dynamic and stunning look on the red carpet. The actress wore a simple rope top under a long jacket with a sultry black skirt, showing off her power to wow the crowd and her confidence in her own body. Paired with a bold lip color and an air of pride, Washington showed how fearless she truly is in rocking an unforgettable look at the 2020 Golden Globes.
Roman Griffin Davis
Roman Griffin Davis, the 12-year-old lead from 2019's highly-praised Jojo Rabbit, showed all of the adults how to do it. His orange tuxedo jacket wowed audiences as much as his movie, and he showed off some of the most fun wardrobe choices seen at the 2020 Golden Globes.
At the 2020 Golden Globes, numerous artists were recognized for their creative achievements and contributions, and they received much-deserved praises for their successes in 2019. How they looked was just as important as what they did or didn't win, though, and many celebrities took the opportunity to show up in their best outfits and demonstrate their ability to wow a crowd. These outfits stunned and dazzled audiences with their elegance, creativity and bravery. From flowing gowns to sleek suits, and everything you can think of in between, these outfits inspired people to dress creatively and have confidence in what they wear no matter where they're wearing it.
