After university, we went to live in Australia for a few years and did a good bit of traveling and lived both in Perth and Melbourne and loved our time there, before moving in 2018 to pursue further training within our chosen fields. He proposed in January 2020 on the skiing holiday atop a glacier in Tignes, France, I was very surprised and delighted to show around and discover him recorded on one knee in the ridiculous one-piece ski suit and I said yes immediately.

I visited 4 different wedding dress shops near me coupled with a lovely bridal knowledge and fun with my mum and my 3 sisters. I probably tried on about 25 different dresses as a whole over a couple of weeks and tried on all of the different styles to determine what would suit me and what I felt comfortable in.

I fell deeply in love with the dramatic detachable train- knowing I could remove it later for dancing and running about while still using a very dramatic search for the church was this type of bonus. I loved the classic crepe and also the shape of the gown from behind using the buttons - My sisters commented that it had been the only dress I’d tried on that I wasn’t pulling in a certain part or tugging on the bottom so I knew that meant a great deal.

For the marriage itself, I was thinking like a green botanical theme, plenty of greenery, succulents, eucalyptus, wisteria, etc. Green is both myself and Kevin’s favorite color which was reflected within the bridesmaid’s dresses, the groom’s suit, and my green bridal shoes. I am a budding plant mom having a growing assortment of plant babies within our apartment, so I desired to bring this aesthetic to the marriage.

We were so lucky using the weather as it had been raining solidly in many other parts of the county but miraculously we've got a warm, dry day with a few fabulous sunshine in Rathmullan. I was capable of getting beach photos and driving towards the church and venue using the top from the car down. I really was relaxed and enjoyed every minute of the day and would try it again in a heartbeat if I could because it flew by!

We had organized for any “singing waiter“ in the future and perform following the dinner also it turned out to become a big hit, he got everyone up and dancing and onto their feet and made a real party atmosphere. It was my sister Niamh who recommended that people organize it – I had never visited a wedding where it was done and I’m really glad we went for this as it had been great fun and extremely got the party started!

My top tip for future brides is always to enjoy the build-up, as stressful as it may seem, cherish time with friends and family and make time to spend some alone time together with your husband or wife during your day.
