This is more personal opinion, but I also somewhat disagree with the labeling of those events as rigorously"MTX events". I have been engaging with this Artisan event without spending a dime and that I rather enjoy RuneScape gold. Provided that the option is there to finish everything without losing cash, I don't see why it ought to be shunned. It provides some nice short-term aims to work towards with an adequate reward.
Yak trak is just one more form of monetisation ontop of what is in the game already. That is why it ties to the game, they found battlepasses do well and knew it'd be a good way to market gold premier. More MTX articles will cause a mass unsubbing of players who do not actively fork out cash for MTX content. It needs to be MTX content + normal content released at the exact same rate and as it stands there's certainly going to go worse if all we get are less regular updates. Pretty much many players saw last year as a dud, in most reality desperate steps should have been published with anachronia. Jagex is poorly managing their employees or doesn't have enough to cater to normal subscribers.
It's still an MTX event however. It's intentionally designed to get you to invest in directly on it. It is fine as articles, sure, but when the actual, fantastic content is being postponed, it bites. It's also kind of content that is empty in general. They just added some items you can craft which largely are lame, and its addition to other material.
