I met my hubby in senior high school! We met our freshman year, started dating at the beginning of our sophomore year, and also have been together since (ten years!). I knew he was the main one when I remarked that we are complete opposites! He’s the alternative to me in virtually every aspect, but I think that’s why we’ve managed to get nearly ten years together through a few of the hardest times in our lives. We balance one another out. On top of this, he truly is my mate. I couldn’t imagine life without him.
We got engaged in September of 2019 on a local lavender farm, Lavender Fields. It was our 7th anniversary and also the entire thing would be a surprise! We stood within a beautiful gazebo encompassed by tons of flowers and butterflies and he propped his phone on a bench to consider a picture… little did I know the camera was recording and that he got recorded on one knee and proposed immediately!
When choosing what we envisioned for the wedding day, both of us agreed that people wanted something comfortable and absolutely nothing super fancy. During the original planning, we knew immediately that people wanted food trucks! We’re two very relaxed people and we truly wanted our big day to be a true reflection of people and our relationship.
The best suggestion I can offer to the new brides when dress shopping is: check it out all on! Even if you like it or hate it around the rack, it more often than not looks different! For example, my wedding dress would be a gorgeous sheer feeltimes dress having a super pretty overskirt. I specifically remember pulling that dress from the rack and being convinced that a dress that had a nude bodysuit underneath was crazy! I laughed and set it back around the rack and tried on five to seven dresses that I thought I might like. I left on that day with no dress and felt a little discouraged. Later on, that day, when I got home, I was to look on its website and found a picture of this very same dress or ball gown wedding dress. This time, it was really on a person and not simply hanging on the rack, and I LOVED it. Right away, I made a scheduled appointment to try on that dress. As soon as I use it, I knew. It wasn’t whatsoever traditional, however, it was me.
Our wedding was beautiful. We got married in a historic barn just 5 minutes from where we live. Decorations contain some twinkly fairy lights to illuminate the barn, candles, burlap, white flowers with a few eucalypti. From start to finish, our big day was probably the most relaxed I’ve ever been to a wedding. It just felt intimate and comfy for everyone. We even had Mister Softee appear as a surprise for the guests!
I think the highlight of this entire day was the ceremony itself. Our ceremony was outside, just near the barn. The weather was sunny gorgeous and we were lucky enough to get have clear skies all day long, giving us a dreamy golden hour ceremony and then cotton candy skies that were designed for some AMAZING photos. It was much better than many people could have imagined! Even four months later, I still catch myself flipping through pictures in awe of the items beautiful day it had been.
