Radical love

Loving our enemies is hard and requires action.

God says, "love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven". Matthew 5:43

This is a hard time to love those who are showing so much hatred to us in this uncertain time.  But we need to reflect the very love and courtesy that we want from them.  If we don't model this, how will they ever see there is a different way?  A way to communicate different beliefs, different viewpoints other than hate?  It isn't enough to just pray for them, we need to show love and tolerance in our actions.

That doesn't mean you need to agree with them or even accept their intolerence.  We need to let our words and actions show that we are as real in our love as they are in their hatred. This is not an easy thing to do, especially in the face of rage or even violence. So it is important to pray for the mercy and wisdom of God, while modeling and reflecting his love on our enemies.
