Stainless steel casting is an industrial practice that involves the formation of a final product by introducing molten stainless steel into a mold or combination of mold cavities.
Initially, the mold cavity is constructed into the desired shape that the final product should take.
After that, the desired type of stainless steel is heated to its proper melting point at high temperature.
This will then turn the solid metal into a liquid state.
Finally, molten metal is poured into the cavity, cooled, and solidified into its final shape.
The product is then extracted for cleaning.
Some exemplary measures, such as heat treatment, can be taken after curing.
Inspection is also critical to determine whether the product has the desired characteristics specified by the buyer.
As we will discuss later, the casting process is continuous and requires different measures.
So what is the difference between stainless steel castings and forging castings?
This is one of the most common problems.
Stainless steel castings may be composed of multiple chemical compositions, unlike wrought castings, which may have only one primary chemical composition.
Furthermore, forged castings are end products that are mechanically produced by simple methods such as rolling and forging.
This is in contrast to steel castings, which take on the shape of the mold simply by being poured into the mold cavity.
For these reasons, steel castings exhibit exemplary quality compared to forged castings, especially when they are exposed to a variety of harsh conditions.
