In Legion the system was called Artifacts. Battle for Azeroth featured the infamous Azerite the gear system while Shadowlands featured Covenants.

While the new expansion will feature new talent trees that are reminiscent of WoW's early days for each class, they aren't tied to any other kind of system for progression this means they'll be easier to test than other recent expansions.

Blizzard has made good on its promise to incorporate more feedback from players into WoW's development, with players providing significant suggestions and input during testing for its 9.2 patch that found their inclusion into the final version.

One can only hope that testing in the case of Dragonflight will be buy WOTLK Classic Gold approached in the same manner. For instance, fans have already received some feedback on the new Dracthyr race. But when Blizzard releases the game quickly into the market to make a 2022 release, extensive testing won't be possible.
