A recent beta testing for Season of Mastery let WOTLK Gold players compete with improved versions of bosses from its first two main raids, Molten Core As well as the Lair of Onyxia. Despite receiving the standard 100% health buff and the majority of bosses also receiving extra mechanics that were removed from the game's original version but players nevertheless made short battle with their adversaries. However, that's not surprising, with Blizzard noting in an official forum post that they were concerned that the effects of changes could "likely not be meaningfully felt" by long-time players of the game.

"As we watched Beta players in the game as well as listened to their reactions to our modifications and repairs and adjustments, it confirmed what we were thinking before this test--merely raising mob health and restoring a few removed mechanics was not hitting the mark we had in mind for a season focused on speedier progress and "more challenging" game content." Blizzard writes.

In the next test Blizzard declares that it will be making "significant modifications" regarding Molten Core and Onyxia's Lair The goal of the test isn't to render the fights so challenging that experienced or well-prepared raiders will struggle to make progress.

"We also don't intend to change the fights so that they are distinct or completely different from their Classic versions," Blizzard writes. "Our goal is to create something unique and exciting to complement Season of Mastery. Season of Mastery that feels extremely much in the essence of the original fights."

The release date of WoW Classic Season of Mastery was set. Announcement of WoW Classic seasons was announced amid fallout from multiple lawsuits and inquiries into an alleged long period of sexual harassment and discrimination at Activision Blizzard. Next year's BlizzCon event, where major announcements about the games of the studio usually take place but was recently cancelled. Blizzard has said it's making the effort to reconsider the way the event will be held in the future however, announcements regarding future games and updates are expected to buy WOW WOTLK Classic Gold remain forthcoming in the coming months.
