It is very ridiculous I agree, why don't you just have two. Why I'd love to have the ability to get this done, However, for me personally that is. I'd really subscribe to the premier shit if that meant I could do both without starting over. You do understand that no matter what if you change games you have to start over rs gold 2007? If it's the exact same account or it doesn't matter? I have made progress on my the same accounts for both games, and when I'd like to play both at the exact same exact time I'd have to make a new account.
I'm a hobby developer, and each of the comments saying is"hopeless" do not realy understands how login systems operate. The simple and normal strategy is to let simultaneosly logins. Is a FEATURE to not allow multiple logins. Allowing two different games use the exact same login would not crash anything. Look at netflix, not only they could allow multiple logins, they even can place a limit. So developers have full control on the behaviour. My opinion on this is that they didn't do this either because they fear abuse and hackers if they change anything in the login system, or so the code is such a nightmare that not even they know how it functions.
You're comparing an internet application which was built specifically to have that functionality to a 20 year old game which started out as one single game, and then became two games using a branch of an older edition. Or it has got nothing to do with the"login system" and more to do with the way other shit functions, such as the cross-game friends record, friends chat, etc., that could be impacted with this, all programs that have been in existence for over a decade and likely have barely been touched.
People who wants to play on RS3 and OSRS at precisely the exact same time already do that and pay x2 for it in the 2nd account. Even though this feature for paying double was discretionary (cuz it'd amazingly unfair to charge double for the folks who dont perform OSRS and dont even have interest in playing it), why could jagex squander time and effort to change and accommodate such system when they would get nothing from it?
Jagex is a business, theres no economic incentive at all for them to do that. That would mean that they need to replicate the player database, just so they can let 1 accounts login. It would be impossible.
Whould they will need to replicate the database? There is absolutely no reason to maintain the playerstate of both games at the same table. In case your login funcionality is broken of as a service, this shouldn't be difficult to do. Biggest reason they probably do not allow this is for server ability. If you're logged on both OSRS buy gold, you use more server resources while you only pay for a single membership.
