Good morning; it is Monday here in Lapu-Lapu City; we are 13 hours (DST) ahead of you in America where it is still Sunday evening. And, speaking of time, today we are beginning a three part series on time by asking, “What do we MAKE time for in our lives?

We hear people say all the time, “I just do not have time for,,,,,” To which I say, “Really?”

The last time I checked there were still 24 hours in each day! That is 24 hours or 1,440 minutes! So the question is really NOT do we have enough time; but rather, how do we spend the time God gives us?

I have heard, as I am sure you have, “I have no time to study scripture!” Or, “I cannot even find time too pray!”

Question, “How often do you miss your favorite TV show?” If you are like most of us; rarely, if ever! You see, we DO make time for things we want to make time for!

I have shared this story before; but, Martin Luther prayed from 5 am to 8 am every single morning; and one day he told a friend, “I have so much to do tomorrow, I must get up an hour earlier to pray so I can get it all done!”

You see, our tenancy is that when our schedule gets full we abandon the spiritual for the so-called “practical!” But, how much more practical was Luther’s attitude, “I must pray more so I can accomplish more!”

We have all heard, “Do not become so heavenly minded that you are of no earthly good!” But I say, “Do NOT become so carnal that you are NOT recognized as a citizen of heaven!”

All too many “believers” are like the ones Jesus described in the parable of the sower in Matthew 13; and no, not talking about the ones who NEVER believed, “And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; and when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:” (verses 3-4)

Rather those who are a “flash in the pan!” BTW, that comes from the days of Flintlocks, when a misfire had an explosion in the primer pan but the tube to the chamber was fouled so no round fired; or, said another way, a lot of smoke with no fire or action! That is the way all too many “believers” are, “Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: and when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.” (verses 5-6) Real excited, but the excitement soon wanes!

But, most who give up are in the third category, “And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:” (verse 7) Consumed by the details of life to the point of choking out their Christianity! Although they have the same 1,440 minutes everyone else, no time for God!

While who REALLY love God make good use of their 1,440 minutes each day and, “but other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixty-fold, some thirty-fold.” (verse 8)

Not enough time for God? As our poster today says, “It’s not about having enough time. It’s about making time.”

Speaking of time, God made time for all mankind! Consider this, God lives in eternity; always has and always will. God had no need of time; He created it for us! About seven thousand years of it; of which about six thousand will soon be past! So, as Gd made time for man, let us make time for God!

Thus I say with Jesus, “Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.” (verse 9) Baruch HaShem Adonai
