I finally had some time to wet a line yesterday here in NC, where my wife and I moved to in late December.
I fished in two of the small ponds in our new neighborhood and landed these two nice bass.
It felt great to land some fish, especially two that were pretty nice in size
We kicked off the 2021 guide season today with a bang!
Tommy and Tony were back with me today to celebrate Tommy's birthday for the 3rd year in a row now. This is his 14th!
We layered up and braved the winds, and it paid off big time!
Over the course of the day, Tommy, his dad, Tony, Tommy's friend Nick and I teamed up to bring 20+ bass over the side of the boat, including some nice chunks.
We found all of our fish on various soft plastics, including a lizard, a 4 inch plastic worm and a craw/creature bait. There were even a few non-bass species caught on a small crankbait.
The wind was a factor the entire trip. It was sure nice to have the two Minn Kota Talons on the transom to help with boat positioning.

While I have been waiting for guide trips to start this season, I have been busy making some modifications and upgrades to my boat, making new lures and a handful of other fishing-related tasks.

Got to wet a line yesterday for a couple hours.
I'd been wanting to get out and try the new Minn Kota Talon I installed on the Starboard side of the boat, giving me a matching pair of them now.
Needless to say, having two Talons is better than one! ?
Oh, and I also got to catch a few bass while I was at it!
Nothing big, but all three of the LMB I caught were chunky, and I caught all three of them on spinnerbaits that I made myself ?
