Went fishing Friday!
This 16" Brown Trout came from the Kibler Valley section of Dan River in Patrick County, Virginia, U. S. A!
I caught it on a Full Metal Minnow Fishing Lure I designed and made. Notice the lure was still in the trout's mouth when I took the picture.
This Full Metal Minnow style is based on the .22LR case.
I originally intended that lure as a drifter that would mimic a piece of the hatchery food that stocked trout eat in the concrete ponds they are raised in. But I'm finding that it works better as a minnow imitation when I supply the swimming action with rod tip movements and retrieval speed variations.
The only bad part is this lure is so light weight that casting distance is very limited. I won't use any weights with it because that would change the action and the feel. The cast length limitation isn't bad enough to make me change anything. I'll just keep catching fish with it...

Here's the first fish ever caught on a Full Metal Minnow, a 10 inch wild brown trout.
I knew that day these lures are special.

Caught this 4 pound rainbow in a small stocked creek in the Virginia mountains 2 months after the last stocking of the spring. Also caught another one within 1/2" the size of this one that day.

This Virginia brown trout just about inhaled the Original Full Metal Minnow!
It made him Bite the Bullet!

Here's a brook trout I caught in June 2019 on the original Full Metal Minnow, the one based on the .223 case.
Most of the trout I've caught have been on the Original Full Metal Minnow. The shape of that .223 case is classic minnow!

Full Metal Minnow Fishing Lures imitate the movement of real minnows trying to evade predators. They were originally designed to catch wild brown trout in rivers, but will also catch a wide variety of other fish including every kind of trout, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappie, rock bass, and several other species.
