No one ever said that we could 'social distance' this Chinese virus out of existence. Or that we could "Stay at Home" until it disappeared. These measures were only instituted to "Flatten the Curve".

The whole idea of "Flattening the Curve" was to give the country time to better prepare ourselves to do combat with this virus. To make sure our hospitals didn't run out of beds. To acquire adequate ventilators. To manufacture sufficient personal protection equipment (PPE). To study the virus and learn how to test for it and to treat it.

Now, at great cost to the economy, we have "flattened the curve". No one has died from lack of a hospital bed. No one has died because they couldn't get a ventilator when they needed it. We didn't have to make choices about who would die because our medical facilities didn't have the capacity to save them. We now have enough excess ventilators that we are supplying them to other countries. Emergency hospitals are being dismantled. PPE is being manufactured by the millions. And testing is being ramped up on a daily basis.

We have done what we set out to do. And continuing to stay at home isn't going to eradicate this virus. But, continuing to stay home will eventually completely devastate our economy.

Consider this and let us move bravely forward.
