In the Bible, the book of Genesis speaks of a time when we walked with God in the garden in the cool of the day.......and I believe that He walks with us there still.

I love my garden at this time of day, in the cool of the morning.

In the morning the garden is fresh from the night, dew has fallen, flowers are opening and new buds rise from their stems in search of the early light.......all is quiet.......no one is up, only the dogs and me.

The colors are fresh.......and there were no mists of doubt exhaled from earth to obscure their clear shining in the face of the morning sun, and it is easy to linger here before the demands of my day.......and as I do, my mind......my spirit wanders back to those days when God walked with us through the garden in the cool of the day.......and as I walk; He is there walking too.......within me, admiring the fresh growth, and pointing out the pitfalls of the day......preparing my mind for the day to come.......for the work to come.

And in the evening, as the busy day draws to a close, the bees return to the hive, and the responsive flowers close up gently in the dusk.......and He returns to this place with me.

While the garden sinks from the brightness of day into the rest of evening I again walk with my Father.......my Lord in the garden and contemplate with Him the day that is past, seeing what new growth has developed, observing the spent flowers of my life that must be cut back while finding, with thanks, the colors that work well together and making plans for the morrow which seems always so quickly upon us.......and in this walk, my life begins and ends in the cool of the day.
