Good morning friends. Here is a word of encouragement as you fight the good fight today.
But I Have Prayed For You
“But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me; strengthen your brethren.” Luke 22:32
What powerful words from Jesus! Peter did not understand or appreciate them at the time because he did not yet understand the weakness of his flesh nor the strength of his enemy, the Devil. Peter failed, but Jesus’ prayer did not. Isn’t it that way with us?
We can fool ourselves into thinking we are strong enough, smart enough, or committed enough, not realizing our great dependence upon the high priestly ministry of Jesus, our great intercessor.
Earthly priests are limited because they are temporal and limited in knowledge, but Jesus Christ, because He is risen, ever living, and all-knowing, is able to provide us prayer to be preserved and protected from the enemy’s plans to destroy us.
“Therefore He is able also to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” Hebrew 7:25
Maybe you are in a time of severe testing. Take heart! Jesus is praying for you! Our pride may be crushed, our high notions of ourselves may be brought low, but the most precious thing you or I can be left with is our faith. Make sure to give testimony to others of Christ’s power to preserve you; it will help strengthen their faith.
