Sea Level Rise is a common topic related to Global Warming. This chart shows the increase in sea level since the last glacial maximum 22,000 years ago. As the earth warmed and ice melted the oceans rose 130 meters or 426 ft. The chart also shows that the rate of increase has slowed down dramatically. NOAA measures sea level changes by satellite telemetry and has published a current increase in sea level of 3 mm per year, or less than 12 inches in 100 years. Sea level is a difficult thing to measure because of constant movement of water, tidal forces and storms. The rate is controversial. Some have accused NOAA of making algorithmic adjustments to yield the numbers that support political agendas.
