As some of you may know, Joel Skousen, author of World Affairs Brief is neither pro, nor anti Trump. He has done, IMHO, a good job of being a fair referee. His front page this week, is especially good.

THREAT OF TARIFFS GETS MEXICO’S ATTENTION

President Trump’s plan to slap tariffs on Mexico is already having an effect. The socialist president of Mexico is making a show of force on their southern border as panic sets in with Mexican businessmen who sell a lot of products into the US, and fear what tariffs will do to slow sales of Mexican-made vehicles and agricultural products. While I don’t like tariffs, which are a restraint against free trade, I have to applaud Trump’s search for anything he can do within executive authority to stop this illegal invasion. We are within a few years of the Left having a permanent majority of voters in this nation, largely fed by this continual flow of socialist-oriented immigrants, adding to the rapidly growing horde of leftist millennials emerging from public schools and universities. That is why this battle against illegal immigration is so crucial. With Congress and the courts continually blocking his previous measures, Trump has now turned to his ability to erect barriers to trade to get Mexico to start doing something to stem the flow of illegals from Central America. Despite the flaws in Trump’s tariff strategy (his criteria for Mexican compliance is weak), it is already having some results; but the establishment in this country is preparing to stop him.
