Elliptical galaxy M87 and its black hole jet. Taken with an 8" Meade LX200 Classic @ f/10 with an SBIG ST-2000XCM camera and AO-7 adaptive optics guiding at 2 hz. 13x5 minute exposures stacked. The black hole at the center of M87 is generating the blue jet visible to the right of the core of the galaxy in this image. This is the same black hole that was first imaged by the event horizon telescope project.
