In my kitchen there is a pasta maker.

I have never used said pasta maker.

This pasta maker has been tucked away in a cabinet for three years, maybe four; I don’t remember at this point. It’s been too long.

General decluttering rules dictate that anything you haven’t touched/used in more than six months is a candidate for removal from your home.

But this pasta maker isn’t going anywhere.

This is more than simply another random kitchen gadget to me.

It represents the life I am striving for.

A life where there is TIME to channel my Italian DNA and make my own pasta, which has been on my bucket list for a long time.

A life of nourishment, where my family gathers around the table to feast on home cooked meals.

A life of creative endeavors, expanding my skill set in the kitchen while plating up beautiful meals for my family and friends.

A life of beautiful memories with my children as we make messes together in the kitchen and enjoy delicious, life-giving food.

As you remove items from your home, remember there is a time to break the rules. If you choose to keep something in your home, knowing your new uncluttered life will give you the time and space to use that item, keep it.

Life is about living, not depriving yourself of the things you’ve always dreamed of doing for the sake of clearing clutter or being a minimalist. Be intentional with the things you choose to keep in your home, and your life will grow in beauty.

For now, this pasta maker remains in my kitchen.
