What an awesome day at the state fair yesterday! I'm thrilled to share one of my life's most noteworthy achievements--taking first place in the state's King Arthur cupcake contest!! Over the years I've entered a number of different competitions, including writing, art, photo, etc. contests, but I've never won anything of significance until now. My entry was an ube cupcake topped with banana cream cheese frosting piped to look like a hibiscus flower and a stamen made from Twizzlers Pull n' Peel candy and red nonpareils, which I named Tropicake. Friends and family all raved about these when I first made them so I knew I was onto something good, but now it's official, lol! Thank you, King Arthur, I'm tremendously honored!
