BREED HIGHLIGHT: Jersey Giant
Since we looked at #2, check out the world's largest chicken. While Brahmas can be bigger, the average Jersey Giant is bigger than the average Brahma. Jersey roos easily weigh 15 lbs, the hens around 10 to 12. There are 2 colors, black and white, with the whites generally a pound or so smaller. Despite their size, they are friendly and gentle, sharing the Brahma's title of "gentle giant." Kids love 'em!
