Where is, and what happened to the America which called out evil? The America that proudly stood on the side of Right, Decency and God!
In the song “America the Beautiful” it speaks of the natural beauty of America that God blessed her with from the the wheat fields of Kansas, her amber waves of grain to Pikes Peak, her purple mountain majesties, from east coast to west coast, sea to shining sea. How God shed his grace on thee And crown thy good with brotherhood. From sea to shining sea!
I long for that America that I grew up in, with all her troubles and strips, there was always a sense that we were better than our issues said we were. A sense that with all our troubles there was an underlying bond declaring, we are one. That somehow God had made us special, and we could always be better.
America was and is beautiful, because of the God given rights we share,”We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among them are, Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
The men our Founding Father's as imperfect as men are (as we are also) understood that if America was to be beautiful, different we had to honor the one and only living God.
America must again embrace Right over Wrong, Truth over Lies and Jesus Christ over Evil. America was founded in prayer. After several weeks of haggling over the Constitution, Ben Franklin proposed that the meetings should open with prayer, he declared ”How has it happened that we have not hitherto once thought of humbly applying to the Father of Lights to illuminate our Understandings?”
We know the nation is not truly seeking the “One and only Living God”, the Father of Lights to illuminate our Understanding all we have to do is observe the lawlessness in the land. To be lawless is to be contrary to the law or to act without regard to the law. Laws are necessary in a sinful world and those who choose to act lawlessly further sin in the world.
The word for “lawlessness” in the Bible is often translated “iniquity.” according to the bible, the root of all lawlessness is rebellion.
1 Timothy 1:9: knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
Because government is instituted by God as His “minister for good” Romans 13:3-4, it functions best when leaders honor and obey Him. Throughout Israel’s history, God commended kings who followed His laws and worshiped only Him. The course of the nation was influenced by each king’s beliefs and behavior. Since this principle is still applicable today, righteous leaders have tremendous potential to affect their nation in a positive way. The Lord will guide and support God-fearing leaders who seek His wisdom and direction for their decisions.
As important as rulers are in determining a nation’s future, its citizens you and I, also play a vital role, especially in America Democratic Republic where leaders arise from within the populace. Christians who share their faith and raise children in God’s ways can influence their nation’s values and choice of rulers. When both leaders and citizens align their views with God’s, the helpless are protected, the guilty are punished, and the innocent are vindicated.
Looking at our nation today, you might feel discouraged. But you can make a difference in your circle of influence by living compassionately and sharing the good news of Christ. The more the love and freedom of Jesus is understood, the more our nation can be blessed by its citizens.
