Safe and effective, huh?
The FDA has three main standards for vaccines. Make sure you know the difference next time someone says that FDA determined these to be safe and effective.
"Safe and effective" was NOT the standard used for EUA. The EUA standard was the lower "may be effective" standard. The BLA-approved XBB C19 poke is not under the "safe and effective" standard.
Giving testimony to the House Pandemic subcommittee in March, David Gortler was asked: "Does the FDA have different standards for EUA and full BLA approval?"
The available C19 poke never met FDA "safe & effective" standard- only the lower EUA "may be effective."
