Are You Part Of God’s Army? - Part IV
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; II Corinthians 10:3-5
In this post, we will continue a message titled “Are You Part Of God’s
Army?”
2. Jesus Has Given Us Power Over The Enemy
The Christians who are saved and baptized in the Holy Ghost have power over the devil. In Luke 10:19 it says “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
Also, in Acts 1:8 it says “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
Jesus spoke about the signs that follow a believer. In Mark 16:16-20 it says “16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. 19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. 20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.”
a) Baptism in the Holy Ghost
Many in the church have rejected the baptism in the Holy Ghost. Jesus spoke about receiving the Holy Ghost so that the church would have the power to be a strong witness to the world. In Acts 1:8 it says “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
In a post titled “Why The Church Has No Power”, we looked at why the church has no power. Today, we want to focus on topic #3 - No Studying Of God’s Word. To have God’s power in our lives, we must first have the Word of God, which is the Old King James Version of the Bible, in our hearts.
In Psalm 119:11 it says "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee."
In John 15:7 it says "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."
We see from both of these scriptures that putting the Word of God in our heart helps our relationship with Jesus Christ and helps our prayers to be answered.
By reading the scriptures we can see that after the disciples received the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost, the power of God moved through the church. The disciples had Jesus Christ teaching them for 3 1/2 years. They had the Word of God in their heart before they received the Holy Ghost.
In future posts I will share more about this topic.
