When we are told, as we often are by people who are overly pious and underly informed, that we are never to get angry, it rightly chafes us. Something inside of us knows that that cannot possibly be right. But then along comes another option, somewhere between “never get angry” and “always get angry.” That other option is “hold off just a bit on getting angry.” You see, if we defer anger, we can always go ahead and call it due if necessary.
