He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

God is our Creator, our Redeemer, our Lord. We are refreshed and renewed in His presence. He is a shelter from the storm, from the heat, and in times of overwhelming trouble.

There is no one like our God. His majesty is shown through creation, through everything we have learned about the physical universe, from the smallest particles the physicists have detected to the largest galaxy clusters, the most massive black holes, and the most awesome stellar explosions.

The fear of the Lord comes upon us when we dwell for a time on who the Lord God Almighty is, and who we are to Him.

Psalms 62
v.1 My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him.
v.2 He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
v.7 My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge.
v.8 Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge.
v.11 One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that You, O God, are strong,
v.12 and that You, O Lord, are loving.

But it is good to remember the loving kindness of God in additional to His awesomeness.

He is the One who picks us up when we fall.

It is His still small voice that we hear when we quietly spend time with Him, empty of wants and needs and demands, just listening to His heartbeat in the spirit.

He isn't just a kind stranger that comes along to help us with problems we can't fix.

He not only searches for us, seeking us by name, but when He finds us, He adopts us into His family.

He is our Father. He loves us, not just as an artist cares for something he has put together, but as His children, and He gives us the opportunity, as His children, to climb up in His lap and cling to Him when we need to.

We can tell Him our secrets, good and bad, and He keeps our confidences. We can share our dreams, and He supports them because He planted them in our hearts.

We can ask Him our hard questions, and it doesn't worry or upset Him because He knows we are children.

We can feel sad or mad or bad and it doesn't scare Him, because He is our Father, our Abba who loves us.

When you need Him, He is always there, ready to comfort, ready to encourage, ready to carry us when we are too tired to walk all the way home.

Galatians 3
v.26 You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus,
v.27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
v.27 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise.

Galatians 4
v.6 Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father."

Loving Father, when the day has been long and we haven't had our nap and we become fretful, remind us of Your love for us in all that You have done.

There is nothing we can do that can make You love us more than You do, and there is nothing we can do that would cause You to love us less than You do.
