“Many waters cannot quench love, nor can the floods drown it.” (Song of Solomon 8:7)

On this day dedicated to love and affection, we celebrate the greatest of all virtues. As we honor our sweethearts on this Valentine’s Day, let’s remember that God is the source of love for it is the essence of who He is. As we express our love for those that we hold dear with gifts of flowers, candy, romantic dinners, and other expressions of our affection, we must remember to give God His rightly-deserved place of highest priority in our hearts and lives as our first love!

Let’s seek to love our risen LORD Jesus Christ with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength for He first loved us and died sacrificially for mankind’s sins so that believers can receive God’s grace and His most precious gifts of salvation and everlasting life. The epitome of love, Christ set the supreme example for us to follow in our earthly relationships. He gave His life for us, His friends, that, Scripture says, is love’s greatest expression!

“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
