The Middle East is a region where vehicle is king and fuel is cheap, frequently leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving around.
But this year, as protests across the Middle East have actually pressed up the price of oil, the concern of finding alternative sources of fuel has actually come into sharp focus.
In a region that has one of the greatest carbon footprints on the planet, one service is taking benefit of the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's established the Middle East's first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving lucrative too, currently their client-list consists of McDonald's.
