And Yakk’ov ask him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. El Elohai....

El Elohai....

Erev tov Kedoshim…

And Yakk’ov ask him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there, Beresheit ~ Genesis 32:29. And he erected there an altar, and called it El Elohai-Israel, Beresheit ~ Genesis 33:20.

I have often wondered over this passage, and find it comical in some ways, but I assure you had it been me in Yakk’ov’s place, I would have a completely different view point.. That is not to say that this event was not important, because it was, and there again, have we not all at some point in our lives wrestled with Elohai? You see, Elohai is a name that has everything to do with you and you only, a secret name that only you know the meaning of… You will understand in a moment, but think about it for a moment before continuing on…

When Yakk’ov wrestled with Elohim, Elohim asked Yakk’ov for his name? Now was it that Elohim didn’t know his name? Hardly, so what’s up with the questions from Elohim, now check this out, from the moment when Yakk’ov spoke his name, Elohim changed it… Like Elohim said, I am not kosher with that name, so, I am changing it! Got to admit, that after a wrestling match which left Yakk’ov with a limp, talk about adding insult to injury, literally…

Now, in the reciprocal, Yakk’ov who must be feeling a little bold at this point says, well, what is your name? Dumb or not, I leave that up to you to decide, not so sure I would have said a word.. Now, what do you suppose Elohim’ answer was? Now, herein is another mystery, it doesn’t say what Elohim’ reply was,. But soon after this wrestling match, Yakk’ov would reveal the Shem or the name of Elohim, as a matter of fact, Yakk’ov would build an altar and call it “EL Elohai Yisrael.”

Now, EL Elohai Yisrael means Elohim, Ha Elohim Yisrael, or the G_d of Yisrael..Which requires a question, what does this mean, what was Yakk’ov saying? Thing is, Yisrael was Yakk’ov’s own name, so for Yakk’ov to call Him, (Elohim) “The G_d of Yisrael” is the same as naming Him The G_d of me. Exactly…

Throughout the Holy Writ, Elohim would refer Himself as the G_d of Yisrael. You see, it is Elohim’ will to join His name to the name of His people. Now, the Holy Writ also says that if you are born again, you are also Yisrael….So you must also join your name to the name of Elohim, how so and why? You do so and it means it’s not enough to call Him Elohim, you must give Him a new name.. Now, how in the world do you give Elohim a new name? He must become the Elohim of YOU! The Elohim of……insert your name….

In other words, your name is John or in the Hebrew, Yochanan, so you must know Him as the Elohim of Yochanan,,, The one named Lidia, must know Him as the Elohim of Lidia. You see, it is His will that your name be in His name and that His name be joined to your name, just as His life is joined to your life, and His identity is joined to your identity. His secret name is as sacred as all other names. It means He is the Elohim of your existence, your life, the Elohim of your past, the Elohim of your needs, the Elohim of your wounds, the Elohim of your Lev or heart.

The Elohim is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my EL Elohai, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower, Tehillim ~ Psalm 18:2.

Furthermore, it means He is the Elohim of you and all that you are..So it is the Name that only you and He fully know the meaning of. So Yakk’ov asked Elohim His name and then Yakk’ov discovered it.. And for those who truly know Him, this is the name you have discovered too, the sacred Name: The Elohim of YOU….Remember when I asked you to think on this…. Now you know.. The G_d of you….

Hear ye this, O house of Yakk’ov, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the Elohim, and make mention of the G_d of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness, Yesha’ayhu ~ Isaiah 48:1.
