Increase your physical activity to make sure you are meeting the American Heart Association guidelines of 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise every week. Be sure to include weight-bearing or strength training activities in the mix to give muscle and bone condition a boost.

Make sure you are getting adequate sleep to maximize your health. Aim to get at least eight hours every night. The effects of sleep deprivation can appear in as few as four days of insufficient sleep, so try to be consistent.

You will want to limit your vices, too. Try to avoid smoking and being around second-hand smoke whenever possible. If you are a smoker now, learn about options that may help you cut back or quit. Try to avoid consuming large amounts of alcohol on a regular basis. Current recommendations are no more than two drinks per day for a healthy adult.
