For those unfamiliar with the history of the deceased leader of the Iranian Quds force, Soleimani has been targeting Americans and civilians since the administrations of GWB and Obama. Do the math -- almost two decades? Those administrations chose to take no action against Soleimani.
Here’s a recent summary of events over just the last 18 months that led up to Trump’s decision to take him out.
1. Soleimani and Iraqi proxy leaders were involved in ongoing attacks against US bases and Americans in Iraq.
2. Soleimani was designated as a global terrorist in 2005 and sanctioned by the UN. LOOK IT UP! Today, the UN attacks Trump’s decision. GET TRUMP BECAUSE TRUMP.
3. Obama's hands-off policy regarding everything Iran in the region caused the deaths of thousands of people in the region.
4. Trump changed the strategy -- not with bullets -- but with diplomacy and economic sanctions against Iran.
5. Iran has been trying to provoke the US into war for decades. In the last 18 months, Iran disrupted and blew up tankers, attacked oil fields, shot down a US drone, and orchestrated 11 -- ELEVEN -- attacks on bases where Americans are located. One American was killed a week ago in the last attack. Trump never fired back and exercised extraordinary restraint, which gives Trump further legitimacy for his actions after the death of an American contractor.
6. Trump took a measured, surgical response in the counter-terror operation to eliminate Soleimani.
Today, Iran is on their heels. Protests and riots in their country over a failing economy has crippled the mullahs and the Iranian government. Furthermore, after the last 24 hours, the mullahs know that if they attempt to escalate things further and attack Americans anywhere, Trump is prepared to have the military take out 52 Iranian targets that will bring them to their knees.
Lastly, no one of sound mind would blame Trump for protecting the secrecy of this mission and not sharing it with a group of communists in the Democrat party that has lied about him, leaked classified information, denied him due process and seeks to remove him from office with an illegitimate impeachment process. Democrats are a daily drumbeat of “we hate America” and have proven to be the enemy inside America’s gates.
