The Ecclesiastes 10:19 Ministry

“A meal is made for laughter, and wine makes life pleasant, but money is the answer for everything.” ~ Eccl. 10:19

Why is it so difficult to find a local Christian church driven by the Great Commandments of Christ: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” ~ Matthew 22:37-39

Rather, today, the evangelical “faith” is driven by money. Referred to as the tithe, a donation, a generous gift, matching contribution, support for the ministry, etc... no matter what they label it, the primary focus is give, give, give. “We can do more for God if you give!” It becomes blatantly evident that the motto of the postmodern “christian” belief system is Ecclesiastes 10:19... “money is the answer to everything.

In today’s world, church is a business...being a pastor is a career...and church membership is validated by your monthly dues.

Contrary to this mindset, Jesus commissioned his own disciples with these words: “Proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay. Acquire no gold or silver or copper for your belts...” ~ Matthew 10:7-8

The heralded response from the many Christian ministries to Christ’s commission is, “Please give. We cannot do it without your help!”.

Instead of badgering the masses for more money, the request for which EVERY God-centered ministry should be calling is, “Please pray for us. We cannot do it without God’s help.” Look real hard in scripture and you’ll see that Jesus and his disciples never asked anyone for financial help. It was the Holy Spirit who prompted people to give as a need arose.

And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.” ~ Acts 2:42-47

Hey church! Take a close look at that money you ask for. Notice what is inscribed...

“In God We Trust”

Instead of trusting in money, let’s return to placing our trust in God. Amen?!?

Well done! I will never understand how poverty could surround the Churches.
