Master of Ambush for those who are skilled in back attacks (like deathblades) and Hit Master if you don't do much back or frontal attacks (like shadowhunters or artillerists who are often in demon form) and Lost Ark Gold Precise Dagger for those who have hard-hitting crits (like sorceresses) or Barricade for anyone who likes to hunker down behind the shield (like gunlancers and some artillerists depending on your build).

Situational engravings like Raid Captain, which adds damage based on the movement speed increase, help hypermobile characters (like wardancers), while Master's Tenacity that adds damage when you're at half health can be beneficial to those who live on the edge (Berserkers I'm looking at you). It's all about paying attention to your strengths and weaknesses of, and then picking an engraving that can make you better at what you do.

If you're all about making big numbers pop out of bad guys, Grudge and Cursed Doll are sweet deals due to the fact that the first boosts your defense against bosses, and the second your power to attack. These are also sweet deals when you've maximized the benefits by striking 15 of the nodes.

The disadvantages of each of the effects (+20 percent damage in the incoming direction for Grudge and -25% healing to Cursed Doll) are too significant to make them useful before that point. Don't buy Grudge at the first phase-off for the tiny +4% damage against bosses buy Lost Ark Gold, it's unnecessary. Be patient until you're an tier 3 monster that has memorized every Guardian's attack pattern before you can equip one of these.
