A truly open world. two professors. Legendary Pokémon that can be turned into bizarre motorcycles. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are slowly becoming the most fun RPGs of the fall. Today, The Pokémon Company made that clearer with a new trailer that talks about the game's antagonists. You can Buy Shiny Pokemon Legends Arceus at PKMBuy.

Of course, a mainline Pokémon game can only break so many foundations to fit in with their form. The Scarlet and Violet versions, scheduled to release on Switch on November 18, will follow in the footsteps of their ancestors' gathering monsters. But each new iteration (Scarlet and Violet marked the beginning of the ninth generation) pushed the envelope in some way. Early footage showcases many firsts, including new Pokémon, new areas, and a new graphic style. For fans, it looks great, or at least fresh.

Here's the latest trailer showing off the new "treasure hunt" mechanic:

It's very fast-paced and runs through the plethora of content players can expect from the game.

As revealed in last month's trailer, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet cast you as a college student. Today's trailer opens with Mela, who runs the "fire brigade" of Team Star, the "troublemaker at school". Every Pokémon game has a "team" - a group of people who are always in the wrong places and are usually annoying. Team Star appears to be the team of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Parts of the team are differentiated by type, which may make playing against opponent teams more fun than in previous games. (Typically, the enemy team sticks to the same old poison list.)

The trailer also shows some friendlier opponents — including rival Nemona, elite quartet member Geeta, and grass gym leader Brassius — in action. We got to see three new Pokémon: Clough the giant rock crab, Ceruledge the fire ghost (called dibs), and Armarouge the fire spirit. Additionally, Nintendo UK has released a Pokémon Scarlet and Violet-themed Switch-OLED mockup. On November 4th:

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are the first games in the series to feature two professors instead of one - the player character's typical mentor NPC. The first, Sada, in an orange prehistoric-inspired outfit, will appear in Scarlet. Meanwhile, the distressingly futuristic fashion Touro will make headlines for Violet. The bright red Koraidon and the dark purple Miraidon, two legendary dragon Pokémon, will also be titles for Scarlet and Violet, respectively. Not only ferocious monsters, but you can also ride them in humiliation (on land, in the air, or at sea).

The most significant change, though, is the move to an open-world mode. Historically, Pokémon games have been linear frolics. You'll battle eight high-powered trainers known as gym leaders in a predetermined order. Scarlet and Violet will let you approach them in any order you wish. As my colleague Jiang Sisi pointed out last month, this means that the three launch Pokémon are theoretically on equal footing for the first time. Pour a glass for erstwhile Charmander fans, yes, but also cheers for Quaxly, the inept water-type duck that has had the entire Paldea region (and the rest of the world) piled in front of it.
