In true arcade mode, the key characters consist mostly of PSO2 Meseta high schoolers with this exceptional affinity, and strange events begin to happen around them. On the PSO2 side, you are going to meet some new characters and see older ones return, though most don't have a significant role. A lot of the plot occurs on Earth and involves discovering the schedule of a high tech organization, which eventually culminates into a lore link to PSO2's entire world. It is mostly a one off Episode, but the connection to Earth remains forever open on earth of PSO2. Since players will be traveling to Earth, there are fresh Earth-related locales and enemies. One has already been published in the form of this Urgent Quest, Virtual Planet Battle Training. This place, modeled after Las Vegas, will be among the new primary locations where Episode Four's Quests will occur. The other new main location is the streets of Toyko, even though it is not clear whether Sega intends to alter this for the North American audience. Additionally, there are other locations for the story and brand new Urgent Quests, like the Moon.

As they don't exist within this universe, enemies around Earth are not Dark Falz. Alternatively, you'll see enemies called Phantoms, that come in several different forms from Clowns to Steamrollers. They are primarily weak to the wind element, such as directors, but there are exceptions. The bosses are powerful humans or Kaiju versions of Earth objects such as a three-headed subway railway, so expect to find some craziness.

In PSO2, a new story means new Quests. Many will be the usual types (ARKS, Marathon, Exploration, etc.) occurring in the new areas, but anticipate new Urgent Quests and exploration types to include Episode Four or later it originally drops. Some of them may even come with completely new bosses.
