One instance draws the attention of Christmas Present retro bowl in a world where the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet-To-Come all work for a successful corporation (Ferrell). Reynolds plays the role of Clint Briggs, a contemporary Ebenezer Scrooge who descends to the level of encouraging his young niece to launch a slander campaign during her student election. Clint's obnoxious nature causes every attempt by Present to lead him on a trip with Past (Sunita Mani) and Yet-To-Come (Tracy Morgan) to fail. Present yields a bit and develops a relationship with Clint. Even more surprising to Clint than he had anticipated is certain personal information he learns about them. Clint rejoins the team thanks to their camaraderie, and he finally realizes his mistake in judgment.

Spirited's soundtrack is not particularly melodious and is quite talky. That technique is often used to advance the plot in musicals where the cast discusses each musical act. In this instance, it is more likely to mask the vocal limitations of the leaders. In any event, it is one of the film's few disappointments. Ferrell and Reynolds are rehashing the film's cliches rather than advancing the story in a song. It's a running joke in Spirited that Present's employer, in particular, always cries out as a song is about to begin. The joke is expanded upon when workers at this imaginary corporation see how musical performances appear out of nowhere at their place of employment.
