Today, players on  WoTLK Classic Gold the game's forums and Reddit are soliciting two NPCs called after Afrasiabi to be removed from the game. The two NPCs of concern are Field Marshal Afrasiabi located in Stormwind, the Alliance capital city of Stormwind as well as Lord Afrasastrasz, found in Wrymwrest Temple in Northrend. At the time of writing, both NPCs are still present in-game the game, with Field Marshall Afrasiabi able to be found throughout two different versions of WoW Classic and the game's most recent expansion, Shadowlands. Field Marshal Afrasiabi appears to be moving in and out of existence in Shadowlands. Shadowlands Version of the game, but the reason behind this is currently unclear. Players are currently making use of an in-game toy that allows them to place warning signs on the Stormwind NPC, with some Horde players taking the matter by themselves and attempting to invade the Alliance city to eliminate Field Marshal Afrasiabi personally.

Some players are calling for even more drastic steps, asking that quests developed by Afrasiabi be modified or removed completely. Many in-game objects are named after Afrasiabi as well and his impact on the game overall is huge. As a quest designer during the beginning days of the game Afrasiabi created some of WoW's most popular quest lines and locations, like the quest line for the legendary weapon Thunderfury and The Death Knight starting zone in Wrath of the Lich King.

There's a precedent for Blizzard eliminating NPCs from the game. Two NPCs named Swifty after popular WoW player Swifty were removed from the game quietly this summer. Blizzard offered no explanation as to why they changed the name, however the removal of the NPCs was in response to allegations of sexual misconduct. Actor Quinton Flynn, who played the character of Kael'thas Sunstrider for World of Warcraft and WoW's Burning Crusade expansion, saw his voice taken out of the game in early this year. There was no clear reason was provided for the change, but it's thought to be because of sexual misconduct buy WOW WoTLK Classic Gold accusations brought against Flynn in the same period.
